Terms and Conditions for Classes

These Terms and Conditions form the basis of the contract between you ("the Customer") and Piece of Cake by Clare. Together with your Class Booking and Booking Confirmation, they set out the entire agreement relating to your cake decorating class. It is your responsibility to check that all details on your invoice are correct. Piece of Cake by Clare is unable to provide refunds or guarantee date changes in the event of cancellation or non-attendance.

 

​Class Booking

• Full payment is required at the time of booking. Your place is not confirmed until payment has been received.

• By making payment, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions and the details set out on your invoice.

• The price of your cake class will be as set out in your invoice.

• If payment is not received by the date specified, we will assume that you are no longer interested in attending the class and will offer your place to those on the waitlist.

• Class fees are non-refundable. However, if you are unable to attend and I am able to fill your place, I will refund your class fee, less any payment processing fees where applicable.

• From time to time certain materials for our cakes and/or cake classes may become obsolete. This is totally out of our control; however we will do our best to select replacement products to reflect the original design and/or class content as closely as possible. We reserve the right to replace items with component parts of equal or better quality without consultation.

• To ensure everyone gets the most from their class experience, only participants who have booked a place may attend. Unfortunately, I am unable to accommodate additional guests or children during classes.

Arrival time

• Please arrive promptly at the agreed start time so that you can get the most from your class experience. If you arrive late, I will do my best to cover as much as possible within the remaining time; however, the class will still finish at the scheduled time and some techniques or elements of the design may need to be omitted.​​

Behaviour

• Piece of Cake by Clare reserves the right to end a class without refund where an attendee behaves in a manner that is abusive, unsafe or disruptive.

Health

• Please do not attend if you have symptoms of a contagious illness. If you are unable to attend due to illness, please contact me as soon as possible. Any transfer of your booking will be at my discretion.

Gift Vouchers

• Gift vouchers are available to purchase and are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase. 

• Gift vouchers are non-refundable.

 

Allergies

• Ingredients used during classes may contain gluten, milk, eggs, nuts and other allergens. Classes take place in a home kitchen where allergens are regularly handled, therefore I cannot guarantee any product is free from cross-contamination.  Therefore, I am unable to provide allergen-free classes or guarantee that products are free from cross-contamination. If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or coeliac disease – please speak to me before booking your class.

 

Storage and Transportation

• Cakes made during the class are intended for consumption within a few days. They should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and should not be refrigerated unless advised otherwise.

• Instructions on how to carry, transport, and store your cake are advised at the end of the class.  Keep in mind that cakes are very fragile and damages can happen if not handled properly. Piece of Cake by Clare accepts no responsibility for any damage sustained to the cake once it has left the premises.

Photography

• You agree that images taken during the class may be used for marketing purposes, including social media and my website. These images are the property of Piece of Cake by Clare. If you would prefer that photographs including you are not used for marketing purposes, please let me know in writing before your class.

• Please feel free to share any images you take during your class and tag Piece of Cake by Clare.

Cancellation, postponement and alterations

• Due to the time required to prepare for each class and the limited number of places available, all class bookings are non-refundable.

• If you are unable to attend, please let me know as soon as possible. At the sole discretion of Piece of Cake by Clare, one transfer to an alternative class date may be offered in exceptional circumstances and is subject to availability. Any further cancellations, requests to transfer, or failure to attend will result in the booking being forfeited. No refund or additional transfer will be offered.

• Failure to attend a class without prior notice will be treated as a cancellation and no refund or transfer will be offered.

• In the unlikely event that Piece of Cake by Clare needs to cancel your class, any monies paid will be refunded.

• If a participant is more than 30 minutes late without prior agreement, Piece of Cake by Clare reserves the right to treat the booking as a non-attendance, and the class may not be able to proceed. Where the class is still able to go ahead, the content may need to be adapted to suit the remaining time available, and it may not be possible to cover all of the techniques or content originally planned. No refund or partial refund will be offered in these circumstances.

• Piece of Cake by Clare reserves the right to cancel, vary or suspend the operation of this contract if events occur which are in the nature of force majeure, including (without limitation) fire, flood, storm, plant breakdown, strike, lockouts, riot, hostilities, non-availability of materials or supplies, or any other event beyond the reasonable control of Piece of Cake by Clare. Piece of Cake by Clare shall not be liable for any breach of contract resulting from such an event.

 

Complaints 

• If you have any concerns or are dissatisfied with any aspect of your class, please let me know during the class wherever possible so I have the opportunity to resolve the issue before you leave.

• Please note we can only deal with the attendee.

 

Waiver of Liability

• Piece of Cake by Clare’s liability (both in contract and tort) in respect of defects in goods or services shall be limited to the issue of a credit note in respect thereof or granting a refund or other such compensatory measures as Piece of Cake by Clare, at its discretion, considers appropriate in the circumstances and shall be limited to the value of the goods or services giving rise to the claim.

• Whilst every reasonable care is taken to ensure a safe environment, attendees participate in classes at their own risk.  Piece of Cake by Clare accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings or vehicles whilst attending a class, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
